Books
Greville's library was auctioned in London, 2.12.1678, as part of a joint sale with the books of Gabriel Sangar and another "who lived" (dum vixit). The sale catalogue contains 2150 lots, and is subdivided (unusually) into sections to allow identification of the sources of the books (Sangar's are headed S, the anonymous third party, H). The preface insists that the books "were really belonging to their proprietors deceased", unlike other auctions. Brooke's books, according to this scheme, accounted for 1063 lots, divided between Latin and Greek theology (113 lots), Latin miscellaneous (145), English divinity (250), English miscellaneous (318), French, Italian and Spanish books (231), and bundles of pamphlets (6).
Characteristic Markings
None of Brooke's books have been identified.
