Robert BERTIE 1677-1710
Biographical Note
Fourth son of James Bertie, 1st Earl of Abingdon. Matriculated at New College, Oxford 1693, but did not graduate; entered the Middle Temple 1696, barrister 1700. MP for Westbury 1695-1708, where he was active in voting and counted as a Tory.
Books
Bertie used an engraved armorial bookplate dated 1702 (Franks 2382/*369); the extent of his library is not known. In his brief will, he left "all that I have in the world" to his wife Catherine.
