Thomas EDWARDS 1555-1634
Biographical Note
Son of Hugh Edwards of Rushbury, Shropshire. A member of Furnival's Inn and then of Lincoln's Inn (1587), he entered Doctors' Commons in 1595 and became a Master in Chancery in 1597. He was MP for Calne in 1593 and 1597 and sheriff of Shropshire in 1621-2.
Books
Several books with Edwards's armorial stamp survive; the extent and disposition of his library are not known. Examples: Durham University Library SR 6.c.4, National Art Library CLE P12.
Characteristic Markings
Durham University Library SR 6.c.4 has his signature "Tho: Edwards" on the titlepage, and at the end of the preface.
