Biographical Note
Jurist and lawyer. Rector of Hardwick, Buckinghamshire from 1704 until his death. Published A New Institute of the Imperial or Civil law (1704) and An institute of the Laws of England (1720).
Books
Wood's library, and that of another unnamed deceased gentleman, was sold by retail sale in London beginning 23 May 1723. Advertisements in the Daily Journal described the sale's contents as 'a Collection of curious and uncommon Books in most Faculties, but chiefly English History, Statute Common and Civil Law, Classicks... Husbandry, Voyages and Travels, Poetry &c'. The accompanying catalogue lists almost 2000 books, organised by language, format and subject matter.
