Robert ANDREWS 1705-1763

Andrews's bookplate (British Museum Franks Collection 531)

Biographical Note

Son of Richard Andrews, steward of the Grosvenor estates in Mayfair. He became his father's assistant, and then steward/lawyer after Richard's death ca.1735; in 1725 he was admitted at the Inner Temple. He lived in a house in Grosvenor Street and was attorney for the vestry of St George's, Hanover Square.

Books

Andrews used an engraved armorial bookplate (Franks 530/531). The extent of his library is not known; in his will, he directed that his printed and manuscript law books, including acts of Parliament and business papers, be left to his son in law Thomas Walley Partington. His other books were to be divided between his wife ("such as she shall choose") and son Robert.
