Biographical Note

Born at Oxford, son of William Harding of Holywell parish, cook. BA Trinity College, Oxford 1669, MA and fellow, 1672, BD 1684.

Harding’s library was auctioned in Oxford by Edward Millington, 8 November 1697. The sale catalogue lists 1748 lots, roughly 50% in English and 50% in Latin and other languages (861 English, 854 Latin, 33 French). The content is at least 50% theological with a typical mixture of other subjects including classics, history, geography and science. Imprint dates range broadly across the 17th century with a small number of 16th-century items.
