Biographical Note

BA Brasenose 1657, MA 1660, DD (Cambridge) 1671. Master of Camberwell Grammar School 1661-74 ; Rector of St Edmund the King, London 1670-85, of Sefton, Lancashire 1675-78, Vicar of Bexhill, Surrey 1678. Chaplain to Charles II. Prebendary of Canterbury 1685 (where he was buried).

Bradford’s library, together with that of William Cooper, was auctioned in London at Bridge’s Coffee House, 14 June 1686. The catalogue lists 3717 lots, plus 37 bundles of tracts and 15 manuscripts, but does not distinguish which books came from which source. 1154 lots (31%) were in Latin and other learned languages, 2563 (69%) in English.
