George ST AMAND 1687-1727

Biographical Note

Son of James St Amand of London, royal apothecary. Matriculated at Corpus Christi College, Oxford 1703, but did not graduate; became a barrister at Lincoln's Inn, 1710. He was subsequently a member of the Inner Temple and a judge of the Tower Jurisdiction Court; he published a couple of legal works.

Books

St Amand's library was auctioned in London, beginning 13 December 1727; no catalogue survives, but the sale was advertised in the Daily Journal and Daily Post as "a complete collection of law-books, and of other valuable books in most languages and faculties, particularly relating to the antiquities and constitution of Great-Britain".
