Biographical Note

Son of William Farrington of London, merchant (the name is also found as Faringdon, Farringdon). BA Queen's College, Oxford 1650. Barrister at the Inner Temple 1658, bencher 1674, serjeant at law 1684; recorder of St Albans, 1681.

Books

Farrington's library was sold by retail sale in London, along with that of the barrister and MP Sir Peter Pett, beginning 6 July 1699. No catalogue survives but the advertisement in the Post Boy referred to "above 2000 volumes" with "valuable manuscripts", comprising "a choice collection of books of the common and civil law, divinity, history, and all sorts of learning, in English, Latin, Greek, etc".
