William BLUNDELL 1620-98

Biographical Note

Born at Crosby Hall, Little Crosby, Lancashire; son of Nicholas Blundell (c.1590-1631). He fought on the Royalist side in the Civil War, during which time he was badly injured. His estates was seized in the late 1640s, but by 1653 he was able to repurchase them for £1340 and settled them completely after the Restoration. He authored various works on topography, economic geography and law.

Books

An inventory of 1675 lists a library of 447 books; his surviving commonplace books reveal extensive evidence of his reading and use of books.
