Biographical Note
Second son of Arthur Wake (c.1543-1596), master of St John’s Hospital, Northampton, and canon of Christ Church, Oxford, and his wife Christian (d.1609), daughter of Sir William Wigston of Wolston, Warwickshire. BA Christ Church, Oxford 1597; fellow of Merton College, Oxford 1598; MA 1603. Admitted to the Inner Temple 1604. Served as MP for Oxford University in 1624 and travelled extensively on the continent in various diplomatic roles.
