James BONWICKE 1660-1730

Biographical Note

Born at Reigate, Surrey, son of John Bonwicke of Mickleham. BA Trinity College, Cambridge 1681; admitted at the Inner Temple, 1684.

Books

Bonwicke's library was auctioned in London, beginning 27 November 1730; no catalogue survives, but the sale was advertised in several newspapers as "a valuable collection of books, in philology and history, more particularly in the common law and statute law of England".
