John MAITLAND, 1st Duke of Lauderdale 1616-82

Biographical Note

Statesman and politician.

Books

Acquired books throughout his career, and had a sizeable library at Ham House, where he incorporated the handsome library room in the mid 1670s which still survives. Library auctioned in London, in a series of sales between 1687 and 1692.
