Robert HAMBY 1710-1774
Biographical Note
Son of Robert Hamby of Ipswich, attorney (d.1735); he followed his father in the same profession and lived in the parish of St Mary at the Elms, Ipswich.
Books
Hamby used an engraved armorial bookplate, with a blank cartouche beneath the arms in which he usually wrote his name (Ro: Hamby Iuns" until his father died, then just "Ro. Hamby"). The extent of his library is not known; in his will, be bequeathed his books (together with most of the rest of his household goods) to his daughter Henrietta Priscilla.
