Biographical Note
Son of John Orlebar of Red Lion Square, London, master in Chancery; he inherited the family estate at Hinwick, Bedfordshire from his father in 1721. Matriculated at King's College, Cambridge, but did not graduate; admitted at the Middle Temple 1707 (barrister, 1720). He was MP for Bedford, 1727-34, and a commissioner of excise from 1738.
Books
Orlebar used an engraved armorial bookplate (Franks 22387). The extent of his library is not known; in his will, he bequeathed "all my books, book-cases and household goods" to trustees on behalf of his son Richard.
