Edward HAISTWELL 1696-1744

Biographical Note

Son of Edward Haistwell, a London merchant and prominent Quaker. Admitted at the Middle Temple 1712 (barrister 1718); he continued to develop his father's business interests, becoming a director of the South Sea Company 1733-42.

Books

Haistwell used an engraved armorial bookplate (Franks 13235). The extent of his library is not known; in his will, he left "my books globes maps and mathematical instruments" to his son Edward.
