Thomas JOBBER d.1733

Biographical Note

Probably the son of Thomas Jobber, barrister of the Inner temple, d.1688. details of his education and career have not been traced; his will reveals that he too was an Inner Temple barrister, with a house in Devonshire Street, London and property in Shropshire and Staffordshire.

Books

Jobber used an engraved armorial bookplate (Franks 16496). The extent of his library is not known; his will shows that he had no children, and the bulk of his estate was left to his wife Elizabeth, with other bequests around his family. There is no specific reference to books, which would have been part of his "goods chattels plate pictures furniture" (a phrase which appears in the will several times).
