Samuel GOODFORD d.1744

Biographical Note

Of Yeovil, Somerset; his education has not been traced but he became a barrister of the Inner Temple (perhaps in 1737, the date put on his bookplate). He died young, perhaps around the age of 30; he married his wife, a daughter of John Old of Yeovil, and his will shows that she was pregnant with their second child at the time of his death.

Books

Goodford used an engraved armorial bookplate, dated 1737 (Franks 12181). The extent of his library is not known; in his brief will, he left all his property to his wife.
