Biographical Note
There are two possible candidates for this bookplate:
- John Campbell of Succoth (1645- ), Glasgow lawyer and MP.
He was a practising writer (legal practitioner) at Edinburgh. Between 1672 and 1677 he recorded his arms. He held the office of Burgess of Glasgow in 1679 and was a member of the Scottish Parliament for Argyll from 1681 to 1682. - or possibly his son William Campbell of Succoth (1679-1764), Lieutenant-Governor of Dumbarton Castle between 1708 and 1764.
