William WIGAN d.1700
Biographical Note
Of London; BA Christ Church, Oxford 1662, MA 1664. Chaplain to Humphrey Henchman, Bishop of London; rector of Wennington, Essex 1671-74, vicar of Kensington, Middlesex 1672-1700, rector of Orsett, Essex 1675-1700. Canon of St Paul's 1672; chaplain in ordinary to William and Mary. A couple of his sermons were published during the 1690s.
Books
The retail sale of Wigan's library, beginning on 13 January 1701 at the Angel & Bible in London, was advertised in the English Post and Flying Post; no catalogue survives and the size of the collection is not known. Wigan's will has no mention of books, but directed that the residue of his estate be divided among his children.
