Sir William MEYRICK 1595/6-1669

Biographical Note

Born in West Meon, Hampshire, son of Maurice Meyrick, registrar of the University of Oxford. Fellow of New College, Oxford, BCL 1621, DCL 1627. He was an advocate in Doctors' Commons from 1628, and became judge at the Prerogative Court of Canterbury in 1641. Ejected in 1644, he was reinstated in 1660, and knighted in 1661.

Books

130 books, valued at £16 6s 6d, were seized from him by the London Committee for Sequestration in 1643. An inventory survives in the Committee's records, in The National Archives.
