Thomas PATE d.1704

Thomas Pate's bookplate (British Museum Franks Collection *189)

Biographical Note

Son of Thomas Pate of London, merchant. Admitted at Gray's Inn 1702, when his address was noted as Leytonstone, Essex.

Books

Pate used an engraved armorial bookplate, dated 1703 (Franks 22873/*189), just a year before his death. The extent of his library is not known, but in his will he bequeathed all his books, together with the furniture in his chambers, to his friend John Marsh of Furnivall's Inn.
