Thomas THOROTON 1663-1721
Biographical Note
Son of Thomas Thoroton of London, salter and gentleman, from whom he inherited an estate at Screveton, Nottinghamshire in 1695. Matriculated at Lincoln College, Oxford 1680, but did not graduate; he was subsequently admitted at the Middle Temple where he became a barrister in 1691. He became recorder of Lincoln, but lived mostly in London.
Books
Thoroton used an engraved armorial bookplate, which exists in two states (one undated, the other dated 1703; Franks 29405/*334). The extent of his library is not known; the Screveton estate was inherited by his son Robert (1692-1751).
