John BRYDALL ca.1635-1706?

Biographical Note

Son of John Brydall of Chatsworth, Derbyshire, captain of the regiment of foot of the Inns of Court. BA Queen's College, Oxford 1655; he entered Lincoln's Inn the same year, and became a barrister in 1662. He was secretary to Sir Harbottle Grimston, Master of the Rolls. He published many legal treatises.

Books

Brydall presented a collection of ca.600 printed pamphlets to Lincoln’s Inn Library in 1706. Mostly 17th-century imprints, he had them bound up in 39 volumes, with 2 additional volumes of manuscript catalogues; the subject range is wide, with extensive holdings of sermons and other theology, and also including law, politics and current affairs, natural history and medicine.
