Samuel AUSTIN 1605/6-71

Biographical Note

Son of Thomas Austin of Lostwithiel, Cornwall, Austin matriculated at Exeter College, Oxford on 16 July 1625, BA 1630. While at Oxford Austin authored a poem, Urania, or, the heavenly muse, 1629 described as a 'committed exegesis on the biblical narratives of fall and redemption' (ODNB). He later became vicar of Menheniot, Cornwall 1646 (ejected 1660), and apparently lived and preached in Plymouth thereafter (briefly imprisoned).
