Denis or Denys L'ISLE d.1727
Biographical Note
Son of Maurice L'Isle of Guisborough, Yorkshire, clergyman. LL.B Trinity Hall, Cambridge 1712, admitted at Gray's Inn 1717. After a spell as a schoolmaster at Willingham, Cambridgeshire he became auditor and registrar of Trinity College, Cambridge in 1717.
Books
L'Isle's library was auctioned in London, beginning 10 February 1729; no catalogue has been traced, but the sale was advertised in the Daily Journal and Daily Post. His brief will has no mention of books; his estate was divided between his brother and sisters.
