Henry POLEY 1654-1707
Biographical Note
Son of Sir Edmund Poley of Badley, Suffolk, MP. BA Jesus College, Cambridge 1673, and fellow; admitted at the Middle Temple 1673 (barrister 1678). MP for Eye, and other Suffolk constituencies, 1689-1707.
Books
Both Henry and his younger brother Edmund used engraved armorial bookplates, dated 1703 and 1707 (Franks 23761-2/23764/*190/*243/*254; some of Edmund’s may be Henry’s reworked). In his will, he made various monetary legacies to family and friends, and left the residue of his estate to Edmund. The extent of his library is not known.
