Obadiah SEDGWICK d.1685

Biographical Note

Probably the son of John Sedgwick, vicar of Clavering, Essex and St Alphege London Wall. BA Trinity College, Cambridge 1652, fellow 1653, MA 1655. Rector of Rampton, Cambridgeshire 1662-85.

Books

Sedgwick’s will has no mention of books; after a series of monetary bequests, the residue of his estate was left to his wife Susanna. His library was sold by auction in Trumpington by Edward Millington, 29 March 1686. The sale catalogue lists a relatively modest collection of 625 lots, subdivided into Latin theology (221), Latin geography, history, philology, etc (132), English divinity etc (268) and 4 lots of tracts and pamphlets.
