Biographical Note

Born at Barton Kirk, Westmorland, son of William Langbaine. Matriculated at Queen's College, Oxford in 1628; graduated BA in 1630 and MA in 1633. Ordained deacon in 1634 and made vicar of Crosthwaite, Westmorland in 1643. Provost of Queen’s College, Oxford 1646.

Gave books to Queen’s; some of his manuscripts were bought by the Bodleian library.
