Biographical Note
Son of John Povey of London, embroiderer. Listed as a member of the household of Anne of Denmark in 1619; later auditor for Queen Henrietta Maria, and [occupation::Keeper of Woods]] for Charles I.
Books
The library at Dyrham Park, Gloucestershire (now partly dispersed) began to be built up by Thomas Povey’s nephew and heir William Blathwayt (1649?-1717), who bought the estate, and who inherited books owned by both Thomas and Justinian Povey. Thomas was noted as a collector and connoisseur, who gave books to the College of Arms.
