Sir Thomas BENDISH, 2nd bart 1607-74
Biographical Note
Of Bower Hall, Steeple Bumpstead, the eldest son of Sir Thomas Bendish (c.1568-1636). Matriculated St John’s College, Cambridge in 1624; admitted to the Middle Temple in 1626. He was imprisoned in the Tower in 1644, but by 1647 he had been released and appointed Ambassador to the Ottoman Empire. He married Anne, daughter of Henry Baker of Shoeberry, Essex, and had at least five daughters and three sons with her.

Bequeathed ca.50 volumes to St John’s College, Cambridge.
