Biographical Note

Of Barlings, Lincolnshire; probably one of the younger sons of Sir Christopher Wray (1601-46). Few biographical details can be traced, but the preface to sale catalogue refers to him as a gentleman and a scholar, who gathered curiosities during his travels.

Wray's library was auctioned in London, 20.6.1687. The sale catalogue contains 2302 lots, divided between Latin theology (181 lots), Latin, French and Italian miscellaneous (926), English divinity (340), English miscellaneous (703), and "libri omissi" (152).
