William CARTWRIGHT 1606-86

Biographical Note

Born in London, son of William Cartwright, actor. he probably joined his father's then company, the King and Queen of Bohemia's Men, as an actor himself in the late 1620s. He may have been in France and Holland during part of the Civil War and Interregnum. After the Restoration, he returned to the London stage and was celebrated as both an actor and theatre manager.
