Biographical Note
John Roberts was admitted to Lincoln’s Inn in 1689, the son and heir of John Roberts of Ellesmere, Shropshire, gentleman. He is described as of Lincoln’s Inn in his will dated 1744, in which he requested burial there.
Hans Sloane left him £50 in the 1739 section of his will.
Books
He used an armorial bookplate (‘John Roberts of Lincoln’s Inn, Gent.’) dated 1703: Franks 25156, *379 (another impression).
There is no reference to books in his will, and the content and the extent of his library are not established.
