Thomas PRESTON ca.1647-97

Biographical Note

Son of Thomas Preston, of Holker, near Cartmel, Lancashire. BA St John's College, Cambridge 1669. MP for Lancaster 1689-97; he held a number of local administrative offices.

Books

Preston bequeathed ca. 350 books to establish a parish library for Cartmel. Many of the books survive today; the library is now deposited in Lancaster University Library.
