Sir Isaac WAKE 1575-1632
Biographical Note
Second son of Arthur Wake (c.1543-1596), master of St John’s Hospital, Northampton, and canon of Christ Church, Oxford, and his wife Christian (d.1609), daughter of Sir William Wigston of Wolston, Warwickshire. BA Christ Church, Oxford 1597, fellow of Merton College, Oxford 1598, MA 1603. Admitted to Inner Temple 1604. MP for Oxford University in 1624. From 1609 until his death in 1632 he travelled on the continent in various diplomatic roles, serving as ambassador to Savoy and later as ambassador to France.
