Biographical Note
Son of William Stretton, of Great Claybrooke, Leicestershire. BA New College, Oxford 1565, MA 1658. Chaplain to Thomas Fairfax, 3rd Baron Fairfax, who bequeathed him a copy of Walton's Polyglot Bible (given by Stretton to Halle University). Licensed as a presbyterian to preach at Cawood, Yorkshire 1672; thereafter he moved round various locations as an [ooccupation::independent minister]], including London and Oxford.
Books
Stretton was involved in various schemes to provide books for dissenting students, in Wales and Scotland. His library was auctioned in London, 13.10.1712
