Born in Paris, son of Thomas Orby of London. Matriculated at Wadham College, Oxford 1676. BA 1680. Succeeded as baronet in 1715 after the death of his older brother, Charles. Family seat at Croyland Abbey. Married Charlotte Gerard (born ca.1652).
Books
Orby's will doesn't mention his library, but his books were likely sold by auction in London alongside the household goods of his widow on 10 May 1727. The auction was advertised in the Daily Post and the Daily Journal. Advertisements also describe the inclusion of manuscripts from India and China, which belonged to Thomas' brother, Charles.
