Roger MANDER 1649/50-1704
Biographical Note
Son of Roger Mander, of Bricknoller, Somerset. BA Balliol College, Oxford 1669, MA 1672, BD 1680, DD 1688; Master of Balliol College, Oxford 1687, Vice-Chancellor of :the University of Oxford 1700-02. Rector of Riseholm, Lincolnshire 1680, of rector of Spettisbury, Dorset 1684, of Duloe, Cornwall 1704. Noted for his benefactions to Balliol and as a leader of reconstruction work at the college during his mastership.
Books
In his will, Mander bequeathed to Balliol all the folios in his study, directing that the rest of his books be sold and the money given to the College to buy books. He left the disposal of his papers to the discretion of his executors, asking that his sermons be given to Thomas Dowden of Balliol, and that four volumes of Samuel Craddock's sermons be given to his sister Anne.
