Nicholas CHARLES or CARLES 1582-1613
Biographical Note
Born at Stratford upon Avon, son of George Carles, gentleman; the family moved to London. He became a herald, becoming Lancaster Herald in 1609, and undertaking a number of visitations.
Books
Charles's manuscripts were sold, after his death, to William Camden for £90. A number of Harleian manuscripts were previously owned or copied by Charles.
