Biographical Note

Son of John Gostling, of Norwich. BA St John’s, Cambridge 1664, MA 1667, fellow of Corpus Christi College, Cambridge 1667-75, BD 1674.

Books

Bequeathed his books, ca. 120 vols, to Corpus Christi, where about two-thirds of the collection remains today. The books are listed in the benefactors’ register and include many mathematical and classical texts (reflecting the contemporary Cambridge curriculum) as well as some philosophy and theology, and some literature in French, Spanish or Italian. There is very little English material. Examples: in Corpus Christi; Cambridge UL Y.1.15
