Lionel BOYLE, 3rd Earl of Orrery 1671-1703
Biographical Note
Son of Roger Boyle, 2nd Earl of Orrery; he inherited the title and family estates (much encumbered with debt) from his father in 1682. Educated at Eton College before travelling extensively in Europe. MP for East Grinstead 1695-1702.
Books
Boyle's goods and estate were left to his wife Mary. His library was sold by retail sale in London, 5.10.1703, following a separate sale of his household goods (23.9.1703); no catalogue survives, but the sale was advertised in the Post Man.
