Edward NORTHEY 1692-1774
Biographical Note
Second son of Sir Edward Northey and Ann (Joliffe), brother of William Northey. Admitted Fellow Commoner at King’s College Cambridge 1710/11. Principal Examiner in the Court of Chancery. Significantly expanded the family’s Surrey landholdings. Married Susan Pearse/Pierce.
Books
Northey used an engraved armorial bookplate: Franks *340 (dated 1703); *449 (another impression). Given his age in 1703, this was no doubt commissioned by his father.
In his will his wife was bequeathed ‘the choice of any Books out of my Bookcases at Epsom as she shall desire’.
