Biographical Note

Son of John Haslewood of Oxford, apothecary. BA Corpus Christi College, Oxford 1667; MA (Oriel) 1671, BD and DD 1685. Chaplain to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland for a time, before becoming rector of St Olave, Southwark, 1693. A few of his sermons were published between 1700 and 1707.

Haslewood's will has no reference to books; all the residue of his estate was left to his wife. His library was sold by auction in London, beginning 8 November 1708. The sale catalogue lists 900 lots, divided only by language and format, not subject (Latin and Greek books, 325 lots; English, 575).
