Sir John WELD 1582?-1623

The armorial stamp attributed to Sir John Weld

Biographical Note

Son of Humphrey Weld (d.1610) of London, grocer. Matriculated at Trinity College, Cambridge 1598, but did not graduate. He was knighted in 1607 and bought the estate of Arnolds Southgate, Middlesex in 1610, and later the manor of Barnet.
