Sir William HUMBLE, 1st baronet ca.1650-1709
Biographical Note
Second son of Sir William Humble of London, 1st baronet, who was given a baronetcy at the Restoration, in recognition of financial help given to Charles II. This William was made a baronet in his own right, of Kensington, in 1687, but the title became extinct on his death in 1709. His will shows that he owned property at Twickenham.
Books
Humble left most of his estate to his second wife Mary, including his "plate jewells household stuffe cattle books pictures and all other things". His library was auctioned in London, beginning 13 November 1723; no catalogue survives, but the sale was advertised in the Daily Journal and Daily Post.
