Biographical Note
Grant was a self-proclaimed oculist, whose questionable abilities and methods made him the subject of a pamphlet by Timothy Childe, which exposed his deceptions. Despite this, Grant became oculist to both the Queen and King from 1710 and 1715 respectively.
