Peter WARBURTON d.1721?
Biographical Note
Son of Peter Warburton, of Hefferston Grange, Cheshire, a prominent lawyer during the Interregnum. His education and career have not been traced, but he is described as MD in his library sale catalogue, and presumably practised as a physician.
Books
Warburton inherited books from his father, who left him all his books except his law books (though we do not know the size of this bequest). His own library was auctioned in London, beginning 9 August 1721; no catalogue survives, but the sale was advertised in several newspapers as "the library of that famous antiquary Dr. Warburton, consisting of a very large collection of the works of Sir William Dugdale, Sir Henry Spelman, Mr. Selden, and of our other English antiquaries".
