Biographical Note

Came from London to Cambridge, where he was admitted to Corpus Christi in 1717, matriculating in 1719.

Books

In 1722 an inventory was made of Gibson's possessions, apparently as distraint for a debt. It includes over 130 books, valued at £30 0s 0d (from goods totalling a value of £33 2s 0d). The books are mostly in Latin, with some English, Greek, Hebrew and French. There is a predominance of theology alongside some literature, lexicography, grammar and other subjects. The full inventory is edited as Leedham-Green no.199 (see full citation below).
