====Biographical Note====
Born in [[place of birth::Surrey, England]], son of [[cross reference:: Richard Onslow 1654-1717]], 1st Baron Onslow and [[family::Elizabeth Tulse (1661-1718)]]. Educated at [[education:: Eton College]] from 1691 to 1693. He served as [[occupation::MP]] for [[location::Gatton]] (1702-1705), [[location::Chichester]] (1705-1708), [[location::Bletchingley]] (1708-1715), and [[location::Surrey]] (1715-1717). In 1717 he was awarded an LL.D from [[education::Cambridge University]]. Also in 1717, he succeeded as [[personal title::2nd Baron Onslow]] upon the death of his father. He was a [[occupation::Teller of the Receipt of the Exchequer]] from 1718 until his death in 1740. 

The Onslow family seat remains at [[location::Clandon Park, East and West Clandon, Surrey]].

Used an early armorial bookplate, Franks 22346. The extent and disposition of his library is not known.
